Two Boko Haram suspects who disguised as women in order to escape the
wrath of the Vigilante youths a.k.a Civilian JTF were yesterday in
Jimtilo ward of Maiduguri Metropolis arrested by the volunteer youths
before they were killed after being handed over to the Joint Military
Task Force, JTF. Their corpses were later dumped in Hausari ward. This
was the second time suspected terrorists who disguised as women were
arrested. The first one took place in Gwange Ward of the same Maiduguri
Metropolis where about six Boko Haram suspects in female clothing armed
with AK47 rifles were arrested and killed by the Task Force.
Our Correspondent gathered that the two suspects were on their way to Maiduguri to unleash terror attack, but luck ran out on them as they were intercepted by the vigilante youths at Jimtilo, which is about 8 kilomtres to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
The suspects, aged 18 and 19 years wore pink brassiers and covered themselves with veils according to sources. They were on their way to Konduga Local Government area which was attacked last week where 43 people were killed in different mosques during early morning prayers.
On how they were identified as members of the sects, one of the vigilante youths who did not want his name mentioned in print for security reasons and was among those who arrested the suspects told our Correspondent that, “We thank God (Allah) for giving us the wisdom and courage, but I want to tell you that we know most of the terrorists as we lived in the same ward/area with them before they fled to their camps in Sambisa Game Reserve Forests, Marte and Gwoza Mountains during the intensive military manhunt on them by the JTF”.
He said, most of the terrorists who fled to Sambisa and other camps are easy to be identified by even a common man on the streets, as anyone will see how haggard they appeared physically, as most of them are under intense pressure that will not guarantee them food to eat.
Owing to lack of telecommunication services in Borno for the past three months, the Military Spokesman, Lt- Colonel Sagir Musa and the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Gideon Jubrin could not be reached for confirmation as at the time of filing in this report.
