Five Suspects In Prison Over Possession Of Human Skull

For allegedly killing a 7-year old boy and as well be in possession of a human skull, five accused persons were yesterday remanded in prison custody by an Abeokuta Magistrates' Court.

The accused, Oluwaseyi Salako, 30; Akeem Shotayo, 32; Akeem Akinbowale, 33yrs; Segun Olabode, 46 and Ifarotimi Balogun, 47, were arraigned on a three-count charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession of fresh human skull and murder.

The prosecutor, Insp. Sunday Eigbejiale, told the court that the offence was committed on March 9 at about 7 a.m. in Abeokuta.

He told the court that the accused whose plea was not taken were said to have unlawfully killed 7-year old Ope Ogunseye by machete.

He also alleged that the defendants, between March 9 and 14, in Abeokuta, were caught with human parts.

"The defendants on March 9, at about 11 a.m. in Mokonolu compound, Isale Ijeun, were found in possession of a fresh human head," Eigbejiale said.

The offence, according to the prosecutor, contravened the Criminal Code of Ogun, 2006.

Magistrate Matins Akinyemi adjourned the case to April 23 for mention.
